World Cup: Our Pride Rests On Your Shoulders- Otumfuo to Black Stars

The Occupant of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has reminded the Black Stars of their mandate as they prepare to face Panama later today.

The Asantehene urged them to stay focused on the duty they owe to Ghanaians once they take to the pitch.

“As our beloved Black Stars prepare to take the pitch today against Panama, this place stands as a symbol of our collective heartbeat.

“The eyes of the world are on Toronto, and the pride of our nation rests on the shoulders of the Black Stars.”

Ghana will face Panama at BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in their 2026 World Cup opening game.

Otumfuo made the remarks while opening the Ghana Sports Village at the Sankofa Square in Toronto.

The game is the opening match for both teams in Group L.

It’s Ghana’s 5th World Cup appearance, while Panama is only making its 2nd appearance since debuting in 2018.
