Asantehene Assures Duayaw-Nkwanta of Amicable Resolution Over Royal Houses Contention

The Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged parties in the Duayaw-Nkwanta stool dispute to exercise restraint as efforts advance towards a resolution.

The dispute surrounds the exact number of royal households in the paramountcy.

Whereas the Family Head insists there are only two households, other elders contend there are eight.

“There are only two houses headed by Maame Nyamesem and Maame Daagye. All others claiming to be households fall under the two,” the Family Head stated.

Reacting to the case, His Majesty committed to giving the necessary attention to its resolution.

Otumfuo said he intends to leverage the family tree to arrive at the exact number of houses.

“The family tree will be analysed to find the truth. Whether there are two or eight houses, they all emanated from one woman and tracing that person’s lineage will give us the answer we want to make way for the enstoolment of a new chief,” he said.

His Majesty assured them that the resolution will take place as soon as possible.

He thus urged the parties to prioritise peace and abstain from all forms of violence.

“I decided to convene Asanteman Council meetings every 40 days. However, I will be out of the country by our next meeting. I will set a date for the case if possible before I leave; if not, I will look at it on my return,” he stated.

In addition, Otumfuo advised the parties against falling for fraudulent elements who may promise to help secure a favourable ruling for them.

“Don’t pay money to anyone. I preside over the case,” he warned.
