GES Warns of Recruitment Scam, Says No One Should Pay Money for Posting

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has warned the public against fraudsters demanding money to secure teaching jobs, saying the so-called calls and messages do not come from GES.

In a statement issued by GES Public Relations Officer, Daniel Fenyi, he disclosed receiving reports of scammers contacting successful applicants and demanding GHS 13,000, with threats that their “successful” status will be changed to “unsuccessful” if they fail to pay.

“I just received a distress call. Obviously, somebody called one of the successful applicants and told him to pay GHS 13,000, else their ‘successful’ status will be changed to ‘unsuccessful’,” the statement said.

GES suspects other successful and even unsuccessful applicants may receive similar calls promising to change their recruitment status for a fee.

The Service emphasised that all legitimate recruitment results are backed by an official master list, and no individual can alter it.

“The results you see on the portal are backed by an official master list. If somebody defrauds you to pay money, and even changes your status online, the master list will still not have your name. Nobody can change anything. If you were successful, nobody can change it otherwise,” Mr Fenyi stated.

He added that every next step in the recruitment process will be communicated officially only through the Ghana Education Service, Daniel Fenyi, and District/Regional offices when the master list is sent to them.

For applicants who were not successful, GES noted that the next recruitment window is expected in about 4 months, around November 2026.

The Service urged victims of such scam calls to trace and arrest the perpetrators and to share their names and contact numbers on social media to help expose them.

“Pls, when you receive those ‘scam’ calls, kindly trace and arrest them. Put their names and contact numbers on all your social media platforms. Support us to expose them,” the statement added.
