U20 AFCON: Jerry Afriyie Departs Ghana Camp

Black Satellite player Jerry Afriyie has left camp to rejoin his club in Spain, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed.
It comes as the U20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament is ongoing.
The FA explained that the development is in line with its arrangement with CD Lugo, to the effect that the player returns to Spain following Ghana’s first two matches in the ongoing tournament.
“The Association had to rely on such an arrangement because the tournament is being played outside the FIFA window for release of players.”
It highlighted that it was important for the technical team and management to honour the agreement in the spirit of mutual respect, cooperation and professionalism.
In the absence of Afriyie, the GFA stands confident that the remaining members of the squad will build on the foundation laid in the first two matches for the ultimate success.
Ghana remains unbeaten in the tournament after drawing 1-1 against DR Congo and beating Senegal 1-0 in the group games.
Jerry Afriyie was instrumental in the opening fixtures, playing a key role in securing valuable points that have positioned the Black Satellites strongly in the quest for qualification.
