GES Releases Funds for Perishables for SHS Students Covering March to September 2026

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has transferred funds for the purchase of perishable food items for Senior High School and Senior High Technical School students in Forms 2 and 3 covering the period from March 1, 2026 to September 4, 2026.

In a letter dated July 15, 2026, addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, GES Management said the monies had been paid directly into the various accounts of Senior High and Senior High Technical Schools across the country.

Signed by Dr Munawaru Issahaque, Deputy Director-General in charge of Quality and Access, for the Director-General, the letter directed Regional Directors to notify Heads of schools of the development.

“Management of Ghana Education Service wishes to inform all Regional Directors to notify Heads of Senior High and Senior High Technical Schools that perishables for schools from 1st March, 2026 to 4th September, 2026, for SHS 2 and 3 students, have been transferred to the various accounts of the Senior High and Senior High Technical Schools,” the letter stated.

GES also reminded Heads of schools to submit official receipts of the funds received to the Director-General through their Regional Accountants.

The release is expected to support the feeding of continuing students as schools run academic activities under the Free SHS policy. Perishables cover food items such as vegetables, fruits, meat and other items that cannot be stored for long periods.
