W/R: 20-Year-Old Okada Rider Stabbed to Death by Passenger

A 20-year-old okada rider, identified as Kwofie, was stabbed to death on the night of Monday, May 6, 2025, in Amoaku, near Samreboi in the Western Region, after a passenger allegedly attacked him in an attempt to steal his new motorbike.
The suspect, Jacob, also known as Jaybad, reportedly hired the victim to transport him to a location called Ohiapenika.
After they had passed through Amoaku, approximately 15 kilometers from Samreboi, the suspect allegedly stabbed Kwofie from behind using a pair of scissors and ordered him to stop and get off the motorbike.
The rider attempted to continue moving but succumbed to the injuries shortly after the attack.
Jaybad then fled the scene with the stolen motorcycle and headed toward Ohiapenika.
Some youth in the area encountered the suspect and, suspecting foul play, apprehended him and took him to the local chief.
The police were later called to effect his arrest.
However, tensions rose when residents of Asuoshyime, where the victim lived, confronted the police at the Samreboi Police Station, demanding that the suspect be handed over to them.
The standoff escalated, with the youth threatening to burn down the station.
A police reinforcement team was deployed, and warning shots were fired to disperse the crowd.
The suspect was subsequently transferred to the Asankrangwa District Command, where he is expected to appear before court on Tuesday, May 7, 2025.
