268 Filling Stations, 33 Manufacturers Now Running 24-Hour Shifts- 24-Hour Economy Secretariat

The 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development (24H+) Secretariat has indicated that Ghanaians can now buy fuel at night as the 24-Hour Economy takes practical effect, with 12 Oil Marketing Companies providing round-the-clock services at 268 filling stations across the country.
In a statement, it said the downstream petroleum 24-Hour Economy Programme was launched with the National Petroleum Authority in May 2026 to extend business hours and create more jobs.
According to the Secretariat, the shift to multi-shift operations is not limited to the petroleum sector.
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, Ghana Publishing Company and Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority have also commenced 24-hour services.
In addition, 33 manufacturers have started running second and third shifts in response to the programme.
The Secretariat said the initial phase of the programme was deliberately gradual to ensure policies, reliable electricity, land and SME readiness were in place before scale-up.
It said that between January and June 2025, nationwide consultations produced the full 24H+ Programme, which President John Mahama launched on July 2, 2025. By December 2025, 30 concrete projects had been developed for Phase One.
Parliament passed the 24-Hour Economy Authority Act, 2026 (Act 1164) and the President assented to it on February 19, 2026, giving the programme legal backing to implement projects through joint ventures.
