Suspended KATH CEO Baidoo Appeals to Striking Staff to Return to Duty

Suspended Chief Executive Officer of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo, has appealed to striking doctors and nurses to return to work, citing the welfare of patients and Ghanaians as paramount.
In a statement to staff, Dr Baidoo expressed appreciation for their support during his suspension.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all staff of the hospital for your show of solidarity with me during this period. I am very grateful for your support,” he stated.
He, however, urged them to resume duty immediately.
“I need you all to return to duty in the supreme interest of Ghanaians and our valued patients,” the suspended CEO said.
Dr Baidoo said he will defer the outcome and further directions to the “supreme wisdom” of the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, MP, and the Board of KATH as they handle the matter.
The CEO reaffirmed his loyalty to government, adding: “I remain committed to the cause of His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana.”
The appeal comes as doctors and nurses at KATH laid down their tools in solidarity with Dr Baidoo following his suspension over a directive to halt the admission of new patients at the Accident and Emergency Centre last week.
Their strike has disrupted services at one of Ghana’s major referral hospitals, raising concerns over patient care.
