Remains Of ET Mensah Expected Home On Tuesday

The mortal remains of Enoch Teye Mensah affectionately called ET Mensah is expected back in Ghana on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, his family have communicated.

In a statement to officially announce his death, the head of the KLEY ABODO Family of Prampram- of which the former Council member belonged- said the body will be received from South Africa at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in the evening.

“His mortal remains will be received in the Country on Tuesday, 10th October 2023 at 9:15 pm at the Kotoka International Airport by the family to be conveyed to the morgue after a brief ceremony.”

He confirmed he died on October 2 instead of the reported October 1 by a section of the media.

The former Sports Minister died at 77 years while receiving treatment at a medical facility in South Africa.

ET Mensah attended the SNAPS College of Accountancy and completed in 1968; he had his RSA III in 1970; and he became a fellow of the Institute of Financial Accountants in 1986.

Following this, he worked at the University of Ghana, Legon as Accounting Officer.

He was appointed Mayor of Accra by the Provisional National Defence Council during the Council’s military regime.

He later contested for the Parliamentary seat of Ningo Prampram on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 1996 and won.

He served as the Minister for Youth and Sports under late former President Jerry Rawling and was appointed Minister for Employment and Social Welfare by late former President John Evans Atta Mills.
