S/R: Security Beefed up after 10 Died In Land Dispute

Security has intensified in some areas in the Savannah Region after a clash over a land in Gbiniyiri claimed 10 lives and maimed others.

In a statement, the Ghana Police Service said it had enhanced security at Sawla, Gbiniyiri, Giniri, and other adjoining communities in collaboration with the Ghana Armed Forces.

“Police reinforcement teams have been deployed to beef up security and restore calm in the area.”

Meanwhile, it said the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, was leading a team from the National Police Headquarters to further assess the security situation and engage with the chiefs, opinion leaders and other community leaders.

It therefore urged all parties to remain calm and work with the security teams to ensure lasting peace in the area.

The clashes on Sunday, August 24, 2025, in Gbeniyiri followed a land dispute.

Six people sustained injuries, with three reported to be in critical condition.
