Over 161,000 Students Validated for 2025/2026 ‘No Academic Fees’ Payment- SLF

The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLF) says a total of 161,170 students have been validated for the No Academic Fees policy for the 2025/2026 academic year.

They were among a total of 184,489 records received from 163 Public Tertiary Institutions nationwide as admission data for first-year students.

In a statement, it said disbursement to the eligible students had commenced across public tertiary institutions.

It announced a direct-to-institutions disbursement model for students enrolled in Colleges of Education, Colleges of Agriculture, and Health Training Institutions as part of the hybrid implementation plan for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Under this model, academic fees for 41,007 students have been paid directly to 137 institutions, it explained, adding that the Fund had completed academic fee payments for the first batch of 11,000 first-year students in Public Universities and Public Technical Universities.

The Fund reported that 52,007 students have so far benefited from the No Academic Fees initiative for the 2025/2026 academic year, with remaining beneficiaries assured of payment in subsequent phases.

“The SUTF reiterates its commitment to ensuring that no eligible Ghanaian student is denied access to tertiary education due to financial constraints and appreciates the continued cooperation and support of stakeholders in the implementation of this initiative.”
