We Made Commitments to Ashanti Region and Honoured Them- Akufo-Addo

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has argued that extensive developmental projects were undertaken in the Ashanti Region of Ghana in accordance with the pledges of his government.
According to him, the Region sponsored his election as President and thereby his keenness to its development during his time in office.
“When I ascended the presidency, I went to see Otumfuo and pledged to spur development in the Ashanti Region. I fulfilled the commitment,” he affirmed when the King of the Asante Kingdom visited him on June 3, 2025, in Accra.
In further remarks, he stated that this is backed by publicly available data.
“Anyone who monitors the data will realize that the Akufo-Addo government stood by its commitment to Ashanti. Whether roads, hospitals, schools. We built over 13,000 roads in Ghana in my time. In Ashanti alone, we built 2,200km which means 15% of the road development in Ghana was in Ashanti. Talk of Agenda 111, One District One Factory.”
He also spoke of the revival of the Ashanti Gold Mine and the Boankra Inland project and expressed his hope that he pleased.
He used the occasion to express his heartfelt gratitude to the King and the people of the region for their backing.
“I thank Otumfuo and Asanteman for having the back of the NPP all these years. Without Asante, the party is non-existent. I want to thank Otumfuo and Asanteman for their support over the years. But for Asanteman, I wouldn’t have been President. I thank you all.”
Particularly with His Majesty, the 81-year-old testified that he was instrumental in facilitating his administration.
“He never turned his back on me. He held a cordial relationship with me. I am grateful for that.”
