Kumasi Mayor Alleges Police Officers Own Structures Used For Prostitution, Drug Sales At Asafo

Kumasi Mayor Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi has alleged that some police officers own unauthorised structures at Asafo that are being used for prostitution and the sale of hard drugs.

According to him, the structures are among numerous illegal structures along the Subin drain sited on waterways.

He said they were identified during a desilting exercise around the drain.

“There are some police officers who own structures there, and I am told they are used for prostitution and sale of hard drugs. We have taken steps to report the said police officers to the Regional Police Command,” Mayor Boadi said.

He indicated that the assembly has formally reported the matter to the Ashanti Regional Police Command for investigation, and will determine next steps after the police conclude their probe.

Despite the allegations, he stressed that the demolition exercise will not be halted.

“Once they are done with their investigation, we will see how we can proceed, but the demolition will continue,” he added.
