Lawyer Says Abu Trica Rushed To Police Hospital, Denied Access For Over A Week
Lawyer for social media personality Frederick Kumi, known as Abu Trica, says he has been rushed to the Police Hospital.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Oliver Barker Vormawor, his lawyer, said, “I have just found out from sources at the Police Hospital that Abu Trica has been rushed to the hospital.”
The legal team also alleged they have been denied access to their client for more than a week.
“It has been over a week; we haven’t been allowed access to Abu Trica as lawyers; and our request for him to meet him as his lawyers has not been granted,” the post stated.
According to the lawyer, the whereabouts of Abu Trica remain unclear.
“In fact, we have no idea where he is being held, and Interpol, which first had custody of him, says they don’t have him,” he wrote.
The lawyer warned they will take legal action if access is not granted.
“We will be filing a habeas corpus application by tomorrow if the Republic continues to deny him something as basic as his right to counsel,” the post read.
The lawyer further criticised the handling of the case, linking it to international law enforcement cooperation.
“Let’s keep treating our citizens as animals to please the FBI. We are doing well. Today, it’s a supposed ‘fraud boy’. Tomorrow it will be a politician,” he added.
