Kamala Harris “Very Excited” To Be In Ghana

The Vice President of the United States of America (USA), Kamala Harris, has expressed her excitement to be in Ghana and Africa.

She is scheduled for trips to three African countries including Ghana, Tanzania and Zambia from March 25 to April 2.

Her first port of call in Africa was Ghana.

She arrived at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Sunday, March 25 together with her husband, Douglas Emhoff.

They were met by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

In a speech, Her Excellency Kamala Harris said she was “very excited” to be in Ghana.

Reason For Trip

Her objective for the trip, she said, is to increase investments in Africa and facilitate economic growth and opportunity specifically in the areas of economic empowerment of women and girls, youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, digital inclusion, and supporting the work that must be done to increase food security, including adaptation to the effects of the climate crisis.

She said her meetings with the three heads of the states will build on the recent U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit that President Biden hosted in Washington in December 2022.

“I also look forward during this visit to meeting with entrepreneurs and artists and students and farmers to witness firsthand the extraordinary innovation and creativity that is occurring on this continent and inspiring the world”, she concluded.
