Gender Ministry Inaugurates Project Committee to Strengthen Oversight of Social Protection Programmes

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has inaugurated its Entity Project Committee to improve coordination and accountability in the delivery of projects targeting women, children, persons with disabilities, older persons and other vulnerable groups.

The Committee held its maiden meeting in Accra on Tuesday, 21st July 2026. It is mandated under Section 14 of the Public Financial Management Regulations, 2019 (L.I. 2411) to strengthen the planning, appraisal, monitoring and management of public investment projects.

Chief Director of the Ministry and Chairperson of the Committee, Dr Marian W. A. Kpakpah, said the new body will ensure all projects align with the Ministry’s mandate, national development priorities and government policies.

She urged members to work collaboratively, uphold transparency and ensure prudent use of resources to achieve development outcomes.

Director of Policy, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division, Mrs Florence Ayisi Quartey, explained that the Committee forms part of efforts to institutionalise sound project management practices within the Ministry.

She said it will serve as a platform for reviewing project proposals, tracking implementation progress, identifying challenges and recommending interventions to ensure successful delivery.

At the meeting, members were briefed on the Committee’s terms of reference, the status of the Ministry’s Public Investment Unit and its operational procedures.

Members pledged to support the Committee’s work and collaborate effectively to ensure projects are implemented efficiently and deliver tangible impact for beneficiaries.

The Ministry said the establishment of the Committee is expected to enhance oversight and improve the planning, monitoring and evaluation of interventions under its portfolio.
