Ministry Of Interior Renews Curfews In 4 Regions

The Minister for Interior, Ambrose Dery has reviewed and renewed curfews in four regions of Ghana including the North East region, Upper East region, Oti, and Northern regions.

In the Upper East region, the Minister renewed the curfew hours on Bunkpurugu Township and its environs to last from 8:00pm to 6:00am effective August 16, 2022.

In the Upper East region, Dery renewed the curfew hours on Kandiga and Doba Townships and their environs to take effect from 6:00pm to 6:00am effective August 15, 2022.

The curfew hours imposed on Alavanyo and Nkonya Townships and their environs in the Oti Region will spring between 6:00pm and 6:00am effective August 14, 2022.

Finally, Curfew hours for Bimbilla Township and Kpatinga and its environs in the Northern region has been renewed to last from 12:00 midnight to 4:00 a.m effective Friday, August 12, 2022.

Meanwhile, the ban on carrying ammunition in the affected towns remains in place.

“There is a total ban on all persons in the Bunkpurugu Township and surrounding areas from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapon, and any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.”

Ambrose Dery urged Chiefs, opinion leaders, youth and the people of the affected areas to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace to the area.
