Mahama Arrives in Jamaica for 4-Day State Visit

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Kingston, Jamaica, for a four-day State Visit aimed at strengthening Ghana’s longstanding relationship with Jamaica and advancing Africa-Caribbean cooperation.

The visit, which runs from August 2 to August 5, 2026, will also focus on deepening Ghana’s engagement with the Caribbean Community, CARICOM, and advancing the global reparations agenda.

According to the Presidency, President Mahama’s programme includes a high-level Reparations Dialogue at the University of the West Indies, where he will join scholars, policymakers and civil society leaders to discuss justice, restitution and development for people of African descent.

The President is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Jamaican leaders on trade, investment, cultural exchange and South-South cooperation.

He will address a joint sitting of Jamaica’s Houses of Parliament on a shared vision for stronger Africa-Caribbean collaboration.

As part of activities to honour shared heritage, President Mahama will pay tribute to Jamaica’s National Hero, Marcus Mosiah Garvey.

He will also visit the Ghanaian Village Houses at Seville Heritage Park, which stand as symbols of the enduring historical and ancestral bonds between the people of Ghana and Jamaica.
