Joseph Amoah’s Hidden Motive For Ditching Other Offers For Kotoko

Former Legon Cities player, Joseph Amoah has joined Asante Kotoko SC on a four-year deal.

The 21-year-old debuted as a teenager two seasons ago for Legon Cities and went on to make close to 50 league appearances.

The move was announced on Friday in a statement by the Porcupines.

In an interview with the club’s media, Amoah said some clubs showed interest in him, however, Kotoko’s stood out.

He revealed that he opted for Kotoko for exposure at the continental level as the club will be playing in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“There were a few offers on the table, but for me, it was always Asante Kotoko. The ambition here is clear, and I want to be part of something special, especially in the CAF Confederation Cup.”

According to him, the move is a huge step in his career and one that elates him.

“I’m absolutely elated to make this move,” Amoah said. “Coming from a Legon Cities side that had a tough season, to now joining the biggest club in Ghana, is a huge step in my career.”

Meanwhile, Kotoko signed the player for his versatility.

In its statement, it said, “Amoah is a versatile and physically gifted player who is comfortable in midfield and can also slot in at full-back. He is strong, quick, and capable of dictating the tempo of play with confidence on the ball and good positional awareness.”
