ATM Card At Crime Scene Links Suspect To Lebanese Murder at East Legon

An Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card left behind at a crime scene has linked a suspect to the murder of a Lebanese national, Mr Omar Mikati, at East Legon in the Greater Accra Region.

The 58-year-old deceased was found lying in a pool of blood with a deep cut to his throat at his residence on June 20, 2025.

During forensic evidence collection at the scene by a team from the Crime Scene Management Unit (CSMU) to support the investigation, it found a GCB ATM card bearing the name Paul Twumasi Ankrah.

In a statement, the Ghana Police Service said preliminary investigations suggested that the perpetrator(s) fled the scene with the deceased’s Samsung mobile phone, leaving behind other items.

Following the arrest of Twumasi, one Asiedu Henning was implicated and picked up by the police.

“On 2nd July 2025, suspect Asiedu Henning was arrested in an intelligence-led operation at his hideout in Kutunse. He led police to a location where the CSMU team processed the scene and retrieved a knife that had been disposed of by the suspects.”

The two were arraigned before the Adabraka District Court 1, where they have been remanded into Police custody to reappear on Tuesday, 8th July 2025.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased is at a morgue for preservation and autopsy.
