Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz has provided a positive update on the fitness of star forward Antoine Semenyo ahead of Ghana’s Round of 32 clash against Colombia.
Speaking in a recent interview, the experienced tactician confirmed that Semenyo’s issue from the Croatia game is minor and he is expected to be available for selection.
The Portuguese gaffer also reflected on Ghana’s performance against Croatia, where the Black Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat despite a spirited showing in the match.
“No, it’s just a knock; he will be alright,” Queiroz said.
“Croatia scored two goals, two easy goals. Much too easy the way they scored. When you score one more goal than the opponent, you have the merit to win the game.
“Simple like that. It means we make one more mistake than the opponent, and when you make one more mistake than the opponent, that is it.”
Carlos Queiroz’s comments come as Ghana prepare to face a strong Colombian side on Saturday, July 4 at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Black Stars will be hoping to have a fully fit squad as they aim to make history by reaching the Round of 16 for the third time in their World Cup journey.
The experienced coach’s words reflect his focus on moving forward positively after the group stage and ensuring the team is mentally and physically ready for the knockout phase.
