Police Intercept Over 4,000 Vehicles Nationwide in Illegal Sirens and Vehicle Modifications Crackdown
The Ghana Police Service has intercepted 4,627 vehicles across the country in an ongoing nationwide road traffic enforcement exercise.
The exercise, which began on June 15, 2026, targets the unauthorised use of horns, sirens, strobe lights, beacon lights and other illegal vehicle modifications.
In the Greater Accra Region alone, 1,054 vehicles have been stopped as part of the operation.
According to the Service, drivers found in violation were educated on the relevant Road Traffic Regulations, while unauthorised devices and modifications were removed and seized for further action.
The exercise forms part of the Police’s commitment to promoting discipline, safety and strict compliance with road traffic laws.
Offences being targeted include the use of sirens and beacon lights by unauthorised persons, installation of strobe lights, use of loud horns, and other improvised vehicle modifications deemed a threat to road safety and public order.
The Ghana Police Service said similar operations will continue in all regions to improve road safety and ensure strict adherence to the law.
The Service urged motorists to comply with Road Traffic Regulations and to avoid unauthorised fittings that endanger other road users.
