Interior Minister Calls for Stronger Command Synergy

The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, has urged commanders of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) to strengthen coordination and professionalism in order to effectively tackle emerging migration and security threats.

Addressing the GIS Regional Commanders’ Conference at the GIS Centre of Excellence in Odorkor on Monday, the Minister said the theme, “Strengthening Command Synergy for Sustainable Growth,” was timely given the current security environment.

He noted that with the growing threats of irregular migration, human trafficking, transnational crime, terrorism, and cyber-enabled crime, no security institution can succeed in isolation.

“Strong command synergy is indispensable to operational effectiveness, institutional discipline, accountability, and sustainable growth,” Hon. Muntaka stated.

The Minister commended the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr Samuel Basintale Amadu, and the management of the Service for their commitment to improving staff welfare, enhancing logistics, and expanding infrastructure.

He described the investments as essential to building a motivated, resilient, and well-equipped Service.

Hon. Muntaka reaffirmed Government’s commitment to strengthening the operational capacity of the GIS through improved resources, modern equipment, and better working conditions.

He also expressed appreciation to officers and men of the Service for their dedication and sacrifices in protecting Ghana’s borders and contributing to national peace and development.

He encouraged regional and sector commanders to lead with integrity, fairness, and discipline, and to use the conference to exchange ideas and develop practical solutions to strengthen the Service.

The three-day conference will feature presentations on strategic leadership, command and control, strategic management and finance, and disciplinary procedures under L.I. 2245, as well as 360-Degree Leadership.

“Together, we remain committed to building a stronger, more professional Ghana Immigration Service that is well-positioned to safeguard our borders and support Ghana’s development,” the Minister added.
