Help Create Opportunities in Africa to Address Your Migration Issues– Asantehene Tells Europe
The Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has drawn the line between Africa’s challenges and Europe’s migration concerns.
His Majesty observed that young Africans move to Europe in search of skills, jobs, dignity and viable opportunities.
Creating these opportunities at home, he said, would entice them to stay and thrive. Otumfuo made the remarks at the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów on May 29, 2026.
The Asantehene indicated that addressing migration would be a shared responsibility for African and European leaders.
“If Europe wishes to address migration, it must help create opportunities in Africa. If Africa wishes to retain its youth, then African leaders must create conditions for enterprise, agriculture, manufacturing and decent work,” His Majesty said.
Meanwhile, Otumfuo highlighted Africa’s vast potential to the world.
“When I speak of Africa, I speak of a continent of numerous opportunities. By the middle of this century, Africa will be home to one of the biggest, youngest populations in the world. This is not a burden. It is a blessing if we invest in it wisely,” he said.
