GES Declares Two-day Mid-Term Break for Basic Schools

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a mid-term break for all basic schools across the country.

Pupils are expected to stay home on June 8 and June 9, 2026.

In a notice, the GES announced the two-day break to regional and district directors of education, headteachers, and school management committees.

The Service said the break is in line with the approved academic calendar for the 2025/2026 school year.

Basic schools are expected to close after lessons on Friday, June 6, and resume normal academic activities on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

The mid-term break is one of the scheduled breaks for basic schools in each term, designed to help learners rest and reduce academic fatigue before continuing with teaching and learning activities.
