Justice Pwamang Assumes Interim CJ Role

Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang has assumed the role of the Chief Justice in the interim.

It follows Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie’s leave of absence effective August 18, 2025.

In a press statement, he said, “I shall be away from the jurisdiction from Monday, 18th August to Thursday, 28th August 2025.”

“In my absence, the most senior Justice of the Supreme Court, His Lordship Justice Gabriel Pwamang, will act.”

This was contained in a memo to justices of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, High Court, as well as heads of divisions and administrative units.

It was also copied to members of the Judicial Council, the General Legal Council, and the Acting Judicial Secretary.

Justice Baffoe-Bonney has been serving as the Acting Chief Justice since the suspension of Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.
