EOCO Issues Alert On Online Fraud

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has issued an alert to Ghanaians on undertaking business transactions online.

The EOCO observes that there is a surge in fraudulent online business transactions recently.

“Criminals have targeted the online purchase/delivery services and are defrauding unsuspecting members of the public”, the EOCO have noticed.

According to EOCO, the fraudsters open fake online accounts, advertise phantom products at competitive prices and offer doorstep delivery to buyers.

Such fraudsters, it observes, usually prefer full payment before delivery as modus operandi and block victims from accessing their social media pages once the payment has been made.
