BoG Halts Proposed Mobile Money Fee on Wallet-to-Bank Transfers

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has directed Mobile Money Fintech Limited to pause the rollout of a proposed 0.75 per cent fee on direct wallet-to-bank transfers.
The fee was set to take effect on June 1, 2026, but has now been placed on hold to allow for further consultation, the central bank said in a statement.
The Bank explained that the decision reflects its commitment to ensuring that any changes to charges in the mobile financial services ecosystem are introduced fairly, protect consumers, and support their financial well-being.
It failed to give a new implementation date.
The Bank said further engagements will be held before any revised fee structure is introduced.
