Asantehene Honoured at Fourth Awukudae

Asante traditional authorities, corporates and political leaders leveraged the fourth Awukudae Festival to honour Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, on his birthday.
The King clocked 75 years on May 6; however, for the auspicious nature of the day per the Asante Calendar, no official celebratory event was held.
However, the Awukudae presented just the perfect opportunity for persons across the country and beyond to pay their respects to the King in words and in kind at the Manhyia Palace on May 7, 2025.
Joining the event were traditional authorities, the Ashanti Regional Security Council, judges and lawyers in the Ashanti Region, Telecel Ghana, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development
Also present were the Anglican Church, COA Research and Manufacturing Limited, Afua Kobi Ampem Girls’ Senior High, Jewellers Association of Ghana, Doris Jamo Foundation and UnityLink Money Transfer.
Divisions
Both Kumasi and Asanteman Divisions made some presentations to the Asantehene on Wednesday to express their admiration for His Majesty.
The Kyidom, Nifa, Benkum, Kontire, Oyoko and others showed up with their gifts.
Other traditional leaders including Manso Nkwantahene also paid homage in kind.
REGSEC
The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council led by the Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene also extended its felicitations.
Telecel Ghana
Telecel Ghana made a presentation of an intricate portrait and golf balls to the Palace.
KNUST
A delegation from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) made up of the Chairman of the Governing Board, VIce Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor, Registrar and the Medical Students Association was also present.
“Yesterday was Asantehene’s 75th birthday. His school couldn’t sit aloof. We came to convey our well wishes and pray for extended life and good health,” the Chairman said.
He used the occasion to announce to His Majesty the School of Medical Sciences’ 50 anniversary celebration slated for October.
Presenting the King with a piece of the anniversary cloth, they humbly extended an invitation for his attendance.
The School of Medical Sciences also presented His Majesty with a citation.
Lancaster Hotel
The Lancaster Hotel formerly Golden Tulip Hotel visited the Palace with a birthday cake.
