CJ Suspension: We Await Findings Of Committee- Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama says he is waiting for the findings of the committee investigating petitions against the suspended Chief Justice, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
According to him, his part and that of the Council of State have been completed with all eyes on the Committee.
He noted the ultimate decision will be taken afterwards.
“On the issue of governance, we’ve had difficulty with the issue of the suspension of the Chief Justice and of course, the Council of State was involved and part of that process. We’ve done our part; the rest is left with the Committee that was set up to come out with its findings and based on that whatever the consequential issues are will be dealt with.”
The five-member Committee chaired by Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang of the Supreme Court commenced hearing on May 15, 2025, and meets thrice a week to thoroughly examine the evidence presented in the petitions.
Upon completing its investigations, the Committee will submit its recommendations to the President for further action.
The committee was formed by the President in accordance with Article 146(6) of the 1992 Constitution, following consultations with the Council of State.
The decision was taken after a prima facie case was determined against the Chief Justice.
