Ad-hoc Committee Probing Vetting Chaos Suspends Work

The seven-member ad hoc Committee probing the melee that characterized the vetting of some Ministerial nominees last week has suspended work.
The Committee tasked with providing a comprehensive report on the incident commenced work today, February 5, 2025; however, it suspended its duty at a request by the clerk of Parliament.
The Committee will not be sitting until further notice, the Chairman of the Committee, Emmanuel Bedzrah announced before suspending the meeting.
“It is not the Committee that has decided to stop but the Clerk to Parliament of Ghana had requested that until he gets further instructions from the Speaker, the Committee should suspend the sitting. On that note, we want to discharge you.”
Addressing the media later, Emmanuel Bedzrah said he had gotten information that the members of New Patriotic Party (NPP) had been instructed not to submit to the probe.
“We were informed that when the NPP MP returned, he said his leader had asked him to excuse himself and not participate in the meeting.”
Other members of the Committtee are Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, Gizella Akushika Tetteh-Agbotui, Abena Osei Asare, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Vincent Oppong Asamoah and Bede Anwataazuma Ziedeng.
