A/R: Adansi Dompoasehene Shot at Funeral

The chief of Adansi Dompoase, Nana Okofo Kwabena Bonsu, has been shot at a funeral at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
According to the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, the incident happened on Saturday, November 29, 2025, when a gun was discharged at the funeral grounds.
The traditional leader sustained injuries but has since received medical attention and been discharged, the Council confirmed in a statement.
It further reported that a male adult has been arrested for allegedly firing the shot.
“The Police intervened promptly and arrested the suspect, a 30 year old Nana Yaw Dankwa, who is currently in custody assisting with ongoing investigations.”
The ARCC used the occasion to call for compliance to the temporary ban on the use of firearms during funerals and traditional gatherings across the country.
It explained that the directive remains a vital public safety measure designed to protect lives, prevent injuries and ensure that community events are conducted in a peaceful and dignified atmosphere.
“Adherence to this directive is essential for maintaining order and safeguarding the well-being of all attendees.”
“The public is encouraged to remain calm and to cooperate with the security agencies as they undertake their duties. The Council reaffirms its commitment to preserving peace, enhancing safety and upholding the rule of law across the region.”
