V/R: Woman Dies After Truck Brake Failure Causes Crash

One person is dead and another injured after a Hyundai Mighty truck suffered suspected brake failure and crashed into two boutiques at the Ho Civic Centre traffic light on June 13, 2026.
Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in the Volta Region responded to the road traffic accident and worked alongside other emergency responders to rescue the victims.
Firefighters rescued a 35-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman from the wreckage and conveyed them to the Ho Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Sadly, the female victim later died from her injuries while receiving medical care. The male victim is receiving treatment.
The crash damaged the front section of the truck and partially damaged two nearby boutiques at the busy intersection.
Preliminary investigations by GNFS suggest the accident may have been caused by brake failure.
Following the incident, GNFS has urged motorists to carry out regular vehicle maintenance, particularly on braking systems, to help prevent similar accidents.
“Regular checks on your brakes can mean the difference between life and death,” the Service cautioned.
