New Tanzanian Envoy Presents Open Letters to Deputy Foreign Minister

Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable James Gyakye Quayson, MP, has received the Open Letters of the Ambassador-Designate of the United Republic of Tanzania to Ghana, His Excellency Selestine Gervas Kakele, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The presentation allows the Ambassador-Designate to begin official duties ahead of presenting credentials to the President.

During the meeting, Hon. Quayson recalled the longstanding fraternal relations between Ghana and Tanzania, rooted in the Pan-African ideals of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah and Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, the founding fathers of Ghana and Tanzania, respectively.

He underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation in trade, tourism, education, and cultural exchanges to reflect the vision of the two leaders.

“Ghana and Tanzania share a historic bond that goes beyond diplomacy. It is a bond built on Pan-Africanism, and we must translate that into tangible economic and people-to-people benefits,” Hon. Quayson said.

Ambassador-Designate Mr Selestine Gervas Kakele reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Ghana. He expressed optimism about expanding economic and people-to-people cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides agreed to explore joint initiatives that will increase trade volumes, boost tourism, and enhance educational and cultural exchanges.
