Religious bodies were among the groups and individuals who openly showed solidarity with the Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, yesterday at the Manhyia Palace.

Offering their spiritual support, they also gave their substance to the Palace.

They included Lighthouse Church International, Kumasi Diocese of the Anglican Church and the Pentecost Church of Ghana.

Lighthouse
Bishops of the Lighthouse church, representing the founder Bishop Dag Heward Mills, who is out of the jurisdiction, gave GHc100,000 cash.

It also donated 100 cartons of bottled water to serve mourners during the four-day burial rites.

Anglican
The Anglican Diocese of Kumasi, for its part, donated 20 cartons of bottled water and cash.

This was the third time the church offered its sympathies. It also followed an earlier donation by the general church.

Pentecost Church
A delegation led by Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, joined the masses.

In his remarks, the televangelist underscored the significance of their presence to show solidarity with the King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who stands as the chief mourner.

“The whole church is here to comfort the Otumfuo. We can’t stay in Accra and send representatives. We knew even our presence would encourage Otumfuo.”

A multitude of sympathisers trooped to the Manhyia Palace on Friday to show solidarity with the Asantehene, ahead of the burial rites of Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Asantehemaa.

The occasion was particularly used to donate and extend condolence messages.

Among them were Nananom, Accra Brewery PLC, Wesley College of Education, Kasapreko Company Limited, BBC Industrial Company, Kumasi Mall, Poultry Farmers Association, Mfum Farms, Bank of Ghana and Prudential Bank.

The burial rites of Her Majesty will begin on September 15 and end on September 18.
