Chiefs, SDA Church Partner to Empower Youth Through Education and Skill Training

Traditional leaders and the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church have joined forces to promote education and skill development among young people in the Ashanti Region.

At the 10th anniversary celebration of the Mountain View Ghana Conference of the SDA Church, held at Agona, chiefs and clergy shared a united message of empowerment, urging the youth to embrace education, discipline, and hard work as tools for transforming their lives and communities.

The Chief of Anyinasu, Otumfuo Brempong Nana Akwasi Awobaah II, encouraged young people—especially women—to take advantage of the newly established nursing school built by the SDA Church in the area. He emphasized that education and skill training offer a path to self-reliance and dignity, warning that many people suffer in life because of poor choices and disregard for moral values.

Nana Awobaah II also reminded the youth of the importance of respecting elders, chiefs, and pastors, stressing that humility and discipline remain essential qualities for personal growth and societal harmony.

On his part, the Chief of Sekyere Dumase, Nana Antwi Bosiako, urged young people to engage in farming rather than illegal mining, noting that agriculture continues to provide sustainable livelihoods for many. He cautioned that illegal mining activities destroy the environment and expose people to diseases and long-term health problems.

The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, and several traditional leaders uncluding Bepoahene Nana Gyapa Ameyaw II, Acting President of the Agona Traditional Council.
