Homowo Chaos: Two Arrested After Death of 3 During Attack at Omanjor Chief’s Palace

Two suspects have been identified for their links to violence that rocked the Omanjor Chief’s Palace over the weekend during the Homowo Festival.

The said violence claimed three lives and maimed others, the police have confirmed.

The two suspects, identified as Christian Saka Ahianyevi, 35, a private security officer, and Newton Alotey, 26, a dispatch rider, were arrested in an intelligence-led operation by the Accra Regional Police Command and Special Support Unit from the National Headquarters.

The police, during their arrest, retrieved 18 spent BB cartridges, a locally manufactured pistol, a cutlass, and other exhibits.

A police statement on Monday, September 1, said the suspects are in police custody, assisting with investigations.

“The Regional Police Command urges all factions and residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies. Anyone with credible Information on the whereabouts of the remaining suspects should contact the police emergency numbers 18555 or 191.”

It also assured of the requisite security in the affected communities.
