MoFA, DMT Sign MoU For 21,000-Tonne Grain Storage Facility

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DMT Collateral Management Limited for the establishment of a 21,000-tonne grain storage facility in Ghana.
The facility will be established in Wa, Upper West Region.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at the Ministry in Accra, as part of efforts under the Feed Ghana Programme to strengthen grain storage capacity, reduce post-harvest losses and improve national food security.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, commended DMT and the Danish Embassy for facilitating the project and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting its successful implementation.
The Chief Executive Officer of DMT Collateral Management Limited, Mr Paul Sannie Minlah, said the facility would serve as a Food Security Hub, incorporating an emergency grain reserve known as the Hospital Bin to ensure food stocks are available during periods of national need.
The project, involving an export credit facilitated by the Danish Embassy of approximately €4.8 million and an additional investment of about €5 million, will also provide training opportunities for National Service personnel, Feed Ghana Brigades and Ghanaian technicians in silo operations, grain handling and maintenance.
The facility is expected to be completed and commissioned by August 2027.
