“We Are Proud of Our Partnership With You” — British Museum Director to Otumfuo

The Director of the British Museum, Nicholas Cullinan, has expressed his utmost satisfaction with the partnership between his institution and the Manhyia Palace Museum.

During a courtesy call on the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace on November 4, 2026, he reflected on the 18-year partnership as well as the leadership provided by the Asantehene throughout this era.

“We are very proud of this partnership. Thank you for your leadership,” he said during their interaction.

This engagement preceded a private meeting.

The Director of the British Museum was accompanied by the Head of his Office, Horatio Lovering.

Also present at the meeting were the Chief of Staff of the Manhyia Palace, Mr Kofi Badu; the Head of Protocol, Mr Ernest Sarhene; the Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr Lawrence Akwasi Prempeh; and the Director of the Manhyia Palace Museum, Dr Ivor Agyeman-Duah.

Prior to this engagement, Dr Cullinan toured both the existing museum and the new, yet-to-be-commissioned Manhyia Museum.

The visiting officials arrived in Ghana on Tuesday. The visit to Kumasi on Wednesday marked his first engagement.

As part of his itinerary, he will also meet with officials at the British High Commission.
