Mahama Orders CEOs and Deputies of State Agencies to Declare Assets

President John Dramani Mahama has directed all political appointees heading state agencies and departments to declare their assets to the Auditor-General.

The President recognizes that many are unaware the amended act which enjoins Chief Executive Officers (CEO) and their deputies to declare their assets.

As such, he has directed the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah to write to all the CEOs to comply.

“Let me also remind you that the requirement to declare assets also includes CEOs and Deputy CEOs in government departments and agencies. They should declare their assets as quickly as possible…I’ve asked the Chief of Staff to write to such persons to declare their assets promptly with the Auditor-General office.”

The President gave the order while swearing in 13 Deputy Ministers and a Minister of State at the Jubilee House on March 12, 2025.

Article 284 of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers enjoins public officials to submit to the Auditor-General a written declaration of all properties or assets owned by, or liabilities owed by, them directly or indirectly within three months after the coming into force of this Constitution or before taking office.

This must be done at the end of every four years and at the end of their term of office.
