Opemsuo Radio: A Birthed Vision of Asantehene

Opemsuo Radio, a subsidiary of the Ashanti Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), knocked on the doors of radio listeners for the first time on May 6, 2020.
It was strategically birthed on the same day Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, celebrated his 70th birthday.
“The media house belongs to the King, and that is why we consciously hit the airwaves on May 6, his 70th birthday. It’s one of the visions of the King,” the Chief Executive Officer of the Ashanti Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Mr. Emmanuel Osei Sarfo, said.
This was envisioned to be the certified mouthpiece of the Manhyia Palace as well as a medium to impart and embed culture and tradition within the growing youth in a current dispensation where these important elements appeared to be losing their significance.
This vision of the King has guided the mission of the media organisation situated within the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi for the past five years.
Opemsuo Radio has strayed from the status quo, carving a niche for itself in its educative, informative, and entertaining broadcasts, much to the admiration of its growing audience across the country and beyond.
It has a reputable audience base across mainstream platforms, built through its uniquely crafted programmes.
When you tune in on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., you will be immersed in a discussion by Freduah Agyemang and his panel as they insightfully delve into the very fabric of the Asante identity on a show dubbed Adomankomasem.
Opemsuo Radio also airs Ammammere ne Amanie, another educative and informative cultural show on Saturdays at 6:30 p.m hosted by Kwaku Frimpong.
At 1 p.m. on Saturdays, Akwankwanuase comes listerners way with an impeccable interpretation of local highlife music.
Unlike many media organisations where politics takes centre stage, Opemsuo Radio distinguishes itself with a developmental show called Nkwantannanso, shedding light on areas experiencing developmental deficits.
Aside from that, Opemsuo is making strides in the entertainment aspect, airing uniquely educative yet entertaining programmes both during weekdays and weekends to kick boredom out of the homes of its cherished audience.
Opemsuo Radio has a variety of other programmes that cater to diverse interests, and this write-up may not be able to exhaust all of them.
Mr. Osei Sarfo characterises the impact of Opemsuo Radio so far as manifold. According to him, the media organisation has achieved much in line with its objectives.
