Mahama Says Public Criticism Helps Him Improve His Leadership

President John Dramani Mahama has said he welcomes criticism of his government, explaining that public feedback helps him assess his decisions and improve the way he leads the country.
He said he does not take opposing views or negative comments about his administration personally, but considers them an important part of the democratic process.
The President made the remarks during an interaction with members of the Ghanaian community in Moscow, Russia, where he assured citizens that he remained open to concerns and suggestions about his policies and decisions.
According to him, his focus is on doing what is best for Ghana, and criticism from people who believe his government is heading in the wrong direction gives him the opportunity to reflect and make improvements.
“I don’t mind if people tell me I am leading the country in the wrong direction because I am trying to do my best. Criticism helps me to do better. So when people criticise me and say this is not right, I am not offended.”
President Mahama also addressed comments about his administration on social media, particularly content shared on TikTok, assuring Ghanaians that he follows the discussions taking place on the platforms.
He said he was aware of the videos, posts and public reactions concerning his presidency and encouraged citizens not to assume that their online comments go unnoticed.
“So all your TikToks and things, don’t think I don’t see them. I see them.”
