A 15-year-old Ghanaian boy has died after he was shot in the Bronx area of New York City in the United States on Thursday, October 29.

The victim, identified as Javits Frimpong, was pronounced dead at a hospital after the shooting, which occurred near the junction of Crotona Place and East 171st Street shortly before 9:30 a.m., according to police.

Sources cited by PIX11 said the teenager sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was found at the scene drifting in and out of consciousness.

Police have launched a search for three men believed to have been involved in the incident. The suspects were reportedly seen escaping along Fulton Avenue, dressed in black, with two of them wearing surgical masks.

Footage from surveillance cameras reportedly captured one individual fleeing the area in clothing that matched the description provided by investigators. The person was seen wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants and a mask.

Authorities said Javits managed to run approximately one block after being shot before collapsing. He was subsequently taken to a hospital, where he died.

Speaking to journalists, the teenager’s father, Thomas Frimpong, disclosed that his son had moved from Ghana to the United States about a year ago.

He also revealed that the teenager had previously complained about being bullied by some students at his school, adding that two students had been suspended over repeated bullying incidents involving his son.
