Ofosu-Adjare to Lead Ghana Delegation to SIA 2026 in Burkina Faso to Advance Regional Trade
The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, is set to lead a Ghanaian delegation to the 2026 International Arts and Handicraft Trade Show (SIA 2026) in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, from September 30 to October 8, 2026.
The Minister will participate in the 18th edition of the event as a guest speaker.
Ghana’s participation is expected to showcase the country’s commitment to strengthening regional trade, cultural exchange, and economic cooperation with Burkina Faso.
This was disclosed on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, when a delegation from Burkina Faso, led by the country’s Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. David Kabre, paid a courtesy call on Hon. Ofosu-Adjare in Accra.
During the meeting, the Minister expressed Ghana’s commitment to using SIA 2026 as an opportunity to deepen trade and bilateral relations between the two neighbouring countries.
She noted that Ghana was ready to collaborate with Burkina Faso’s authorities and stakeholders to ensure the success of the international exhibition, and pledged the support of the Government of Ghana and the Ghanaian community towards the event.
Hon. Ofosu-Adjare emphasised the importance of regional cooperation in promoting local industries, supporting artisans, and creating new opportunities for businesses across West Africa.
For his part, H.E. David Kabre commended the Minister for her role in enhancing economic ties between Ghana and Burkina Faso.
He particularly praised efforts that have contributed to improved trade flows, including the export of eggs from Ghana to Burkina Faso and the growth of tomato trade between the two countries.
The Burkina Faso delegation also included the Chief Director of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Handicraft, Alassane Ouedraogo; the Director General of the International Handicraft Fair of Ouagadougou; and other senior officials.
SIA 2026 is expected to bring together artisans, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and industry players from across Africa and beyond to promote handicrafts, cultural products, and opportunities for trade and investment.
