T.D. Jakes Foundation, Labour Ministry Explore Partnership to Create Jobs for Ghanaian Youth

The T.D. Jakes Foundation in conjunction with Grace Compassion Global Foundation has paid a courtesy call on Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment to explore areas of partnership aimed at empowering Ghanaian youth through job creation, skills development and economic inclusion.

Speaking during the engagement, Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Kelly Cornish, said the visit formed part of the foundation’s broader commitment to partnering with institutions and countries such as Ghana to improve livelihoods and create opportunities for young people.

She noted that the foundation has undertaken extensive work globally in supporting vulnerable populations and strengthening communities through strategic interventions focused on workforce readiness, educational access, financial inclusiveness and overall wellbeing.

She added that the organisation seeks to mobilise resources into Ghana to support the country’s youth and contribute meaningfully to national development efforts.

Mrs. Cornish further explained that the foundation is particularly interested in helping young people connect with employers through the deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and innovative technologies that promote effective work integration and improve employability outcomes.

Receiving the delegation, the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, described the initiative as a noble demonstration of “service to man and service to God,” commending the organisation for its humanitarian vision and commitment to youth empowerment.

The Minister stated that he was already familiar with the impactful works of T.D. Jakes and expressed the Ministry’s readiness and willingness to collaborate with the foundation to advance employment opportunities for Ghanaians, particularly the youth.

Dr. Pelpuo stressed that the core mandate of the Ministry remains the creation of sustainable jobs and decent work opportunities for citizens.

He therefore described the visit as timely and divinely inspired, adding that the Ministry was pleased to associate with organisations that share a common vision for transforming lives through employment and empowerment.

He further expressed optimism about building a more elaborate and long-term relationship with the foundation beyond the initial meeting, while highlighting the need to also support the Department of Cooperatives to strengthen training programmes and equip more people with practical skills for economic advancement.

The meeting ended with both parties reaffirming their commitment to fostering collaboration that would enhance youth employability, innovation and inclusive economic growth in Ghana.
