The Volta Regional Police Command has reported the arrest of seven suspects over the abduction and subsequent murder of 12 year old Cornelius Negble for ritual purposes.
The incident is said to have transpired at Akatsi North District of the Volta Region.
The Police said intelligence led to the initial arrest of Senanu Ashitor, a suspect who assisted in the arrest of the others.
“On 26th May 2021, police gathered information to the fact that suspect, Senanu Ashitor had acted with two others to abduct and kill Cornelius Negble for ritual purposes at a Shrine at Nudowukorpe near Tadzewu.
“Police extended investigation to the said shrine but met non of the collaborators at the shrine. The Police returned to the shrine at Nudowukorpe near Tadzewu to effect the arrest of the abductors and rescue the victim Cornelius Negble but unfortunately the little boy had been killed with his head severed and buried in one of the rooms”, DCOP Edward Oduro Kwarteng of the Volta Regional Police Command narrated.
He also said the Interpol Police in Togo aided the arrest of the other two.
“Police secured warrant for arrest and extradition order from the court to enable the arrest of escapees who fled to the Republic of Togo.
“On 18th June, 2021, Interpol Togo succeeded in arresting Hunor Kofi KoKo and Kofi Anani Koko and extradicted them to Ghana”, he said.
Five of the suspects have admitted to the crime according to the Police.
The seven will appear before the Agortime-Ziope Magistrate District Court on 5th July, 2021.
