SEC Warns Public Against YEPBIT Exchange And BONCHAT Over Suspected Fraud

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has warned the public against investing in YEPBIT EXCHANGE and BONCHAT, saying the two platforms are operating suspected fraudulent investment schemes in Ghana.

In a public notice dated July 15, 2026, with reference number SEC/PN/001/07/2026, the Commission said the platforms are soliciting investments from members of the public, including through digital and crypto-asset platforms.

The SEC stated that neither YEPBIT EXCHANGE nor BONCHAT is licensed to operate in Ghana.

The Commission said the warning forms part of its mandate to regulate and promote an efficient, fair, and transparent securities market where investors and market integrity are protected.

As part of its advisory, the SEC urged the public to verify the licensing status of any entity offering investment or trading services before committing funds.

It also cautioned citizens to be wary of schemes promising unusually high or guaranteed returns, and to avoid schemes where earnings depend primarily on recruiting others.

The Commission further called on the public to report suspicious platforms.
