Lake Road Not Completed- Residents Rebut

Residents of towns along the Lake Road in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region have characterised as a “lie” , a statement by the Ministry of Roads and Highways claiming a 100% completion of the road.

A resident of the Abidjan NKwanta told opemsuo.com that the road is yet to be completed.

According to her, the road has been constructed up to the Abidjan Nkwanta station leaving out Jachie, Pramso and Aputuogya roads.

She notes that only one lane of the Jachie road has been asphalted, leaving the other side irritatingly sandy and dusty. As a result, she has advised herself against opening the windows to her room for some time now.

“I don’t open the windows to my room because of the dust from the road.”

She confirmed that the contractors are on the site, however, they are only applying coal tar to the constructed lane.

In addition to that, she complained about the ineffectiveness of the Susuan River bridge constructed in the area noting, that it continues to flood whenever it rains leaving commuters stranded.

This was corroborated by a Twitter user who says he used the road yesterday.

The Ministry in a post on Thursday, January 11, 2024, said the project is completed.

“The Lake Road Project in Kumasi, Ashanti Region is completed. The project includes a 2.73km of dual carriage road from Coco-Cola Bottling Company to Dompoase Junction, the construction of a new bus terminal at Chirapatre and the provision of streetlights.

“Some beneficiary communities along the stretch are Ahinsan, Atonso, Bokro, and Chirapatre. The project has immensely facilitated mobility and accessibility through the reduction of travel time on the stretch.”
