RTI Commission Gives Defaulting State Institutions 14-Day Ultimatum to Submit 2025 Reports

The Right to Information Commission has issued a final 14-day grace period to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) that have failed to submit their 2025 RTI Annual Reports.
In a public notice issued today, the Commission published the names of defaulting institutions, stating they are in breach of Section 77(1) of the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989).
“Failure to comply within the stipulated fourteen-day period shall result in the imposition of administrative penalties and any further enforcement action permitted under law,” the Commission warned.
The notice serves as a final warning before enforcement measures begin against non-compliant institutions.
Under Section 77(2) of Act 989, all public institutions must submit annual reports detailing how they handled information requests.
