Residents Of Boankra To Protest Over Abandoned In-land Port Project

The Assemblyman for Hwereso-Boankra Electoral Area, Hon. Samuel Fordjour has Announced that the residents of Boankra have decided to hit the streets over the abandonment of the Boankra In-Land port project.

He hinted that the residents will stage the protest if the project is not featured in the yet-to-be-read mid-year budget in Parliament.

The Assemblyman decried the fact that nothing has been done on the land set aside for the project, a project that was initiated by former President John Agyekum Kuffuor but got abandoned until November 2020 when President Akufo-Addo held a sod cutting ceremony to begin construction.

The Assembly member narrated that upon several engagements with authorities nothing has been done despite the hardship the people are facing.

He stated that herdsmen have turned the site into grazing grounds for their cattle.

Hon. Fordjour stressed out that the most painful aspect of the issue is that, government has not even decided to talk to the residents about the situation.
